Cycling

Cyclists with a longing to go uphill will fancy themselves in heaven. Ore sees the Tour de France passing by almost every year. Col de Portet d’Aspet, Col des Ares, Col de Portillon, Col de Peyresourde, Col de Menté, Port de Bales and a bit further Col d’Aspin and Tourmalet can all be conquered from our front door.

Mountainbikers are equally spoiled with an extended network of trails for all levels through stunning landscapes. The recently opened cycling path along the Garonne on the other hand offers safe and flat cycling for all ages with possibilities to visit the nearby villages.

Safe store rooms for gear and bikes are provided in our adjoining outbuildings.

Hiking

There are many wonderful hikes and walks for all ages and levels nearby. The foothills as well as the high mountains in the area feature some of the most beautiful parts of the pyrenees with numerous mountain huts. On the Spanish side, the fabulous National Park of Aiguestortes can’t be left unvisited.

We are only too happy to advise you about walking possibilities in the area. Maps and guidebooks are at your disposal. For young children, a carry on backpack and three wheel pushchair are available.

Other summer sports

Rafting, rockclimbing, hang gliding, caving and canyoning can all be organised for one or more days through local, qualified agents. Fishermen can enjoy the Garonne or her tributaries, stocked fish lakes or head higher up to sparkling mountain lakes. Horseriding in the lower mountains is offered by a couple of nearby equestrian centres. Golf can be played on the greens of Luchon, Montréjeau and Bagneres de Bigorre.

Wintersports

Although lower than the Alps, the Pyrenees offer numerous winter sport facilities. There is some excellent skiing to be had nearby and the ski stations of Le mourtis, Superbagnères and Peyragudes are all easily reached in 30 to 45 minutes. Just over the Spanish border the enormous station of Baquira with its wonderful choice of pistes deserves to be mentioned.

Cross country skiing and sledging can be enjoyed in the stunning surroundings of Nistos. There are also endless possibilities for snow shoe walks.

Trips & visits

For a refreshing swim, head for the beautifully situated lake of St Pé d’Ardet (4km) which serves as a local picnic and bathing spot throughout the summer. The nearby adventure park Pyrenéés Hô on the other hand offers well secured adventure circuits for all levels. Local markets, flea-markets, village festivities and concerts colour the summer months. Cultural attractions nearby include St Bertrand de Comminges and Valcabrere, the prehistoric caves at Gargas, roman churches, the Spa town of Bagnères de Luchon as well as Val d’Aran just over the Spanish border. A bit further away you can discover Lourdes, Pau and Toulouse.
